The standard system for gate valves is very extensive, covering various aspects such as design, manufacturing, materials, testing, inspection, installation, etc., and there are different standards according to different countries, regions, and industries.

Summary and selection points of valve standards
1. Core design and manufacturing standards: For steel gate valves, API 600 (GB/T 12234) is one of the most essential universal standards, especially in the field of oil and gas. API 602 is applicable to small-diameter forged steel gate valves. ISO 10434 is equivalent to API 600. EN 1984 is the European standard for steel gate valves. Cast iron gate valves mainly refer to GB/T 12232 or EN 1171.
2. Pressure test standards: API 598 (GB/T 26480) and ISO 5208 (GB/T 13927)/EN 12266 are universal valve factory test standards.
3. Basic dimensional standards: ASME B16.34 (pressure temperature rating), ASME B16.10 (structural length), ASME B16.5/B16.47/ISO 7005/EN 1092/GB/T 91129124/HG/T 20592 20615 (flange), etc. are the basis for determining valve dimensions, connections, and ratings.
4. Pipeline specifications: ASME B31.3/GB 50316 and other pipeline design specifications have overall requirements for the selection, installation, and inspection of valves in the system.
5. Industry specific standards: Based on the application scenarios (oil and gas, chemical, power, water, construction, shipbuilding, nuclear power, etc.), priority should be given to selecting the most commonly used or mandatory specific standards in the industry.
6. Customer Specification: The most direct basis for selecting the final standards is the project or customer's procurement technical specification, which specifies all standards and requirements that the valve needs to meet (including design, materials, manufacturing, testing, inspection, certification, etc.).
