Do you know where the gate valve should be installed?

The core function of a gate valve is to provide "on-off isolation". It most commonly appears in places where you need to reliably cut off a certain section of pipeline, equipment, or branch, providing assurance for system operation, maintenance, and safety. When choosing the installation location, isolation requirements, operational convenience, and flow resistance requirements are the primary considerations

1、Two ends of the pipe section that require complete isolation:
Equipment import and export: Install gate valves on the import and export pipelines of important equipment such as pumps (both import and export required), heat exchangers, storage tanks, reactors, filters, etc. This can completely cut off the connection between the equipment and the pipeline when the equipment needs maintenance, replacement, or upkeep, ensuring safety.
Instrumentation (front and back): Install gate valves in front and back of precision instruments such as flow meters and control valves. This can completely isolate the instrument when it needs to be calibrated, repaired, or replaced.
Bypass ends: Install gate valves at both ends of the bypass pipeline that bypasses important equipment such as control valves and pumps. When it is necessary to activate the bypass, close the valve on the main pipe and open the gate valves at both ends of the bypass
2、Main pipeline segmentation isolation point:
Long distance pipelines: Install gate valves (usually used in conjunction with inspection valves or ball valves) at regular intervals on long-distance pipelines such as water, oil and gas, and steam pipelines. This can divide the pipeline into several sections. When a section leaks or needs maintenance, simply close the gate valves at both ends of the section to isolate it and avoid affecting the operation of the entire system.
Regional isolation: Install gate valves at pipeline connections between different process areas, floors, or functional zones in factories or buildings to isolate specific areas.
3、Connection point between branch pipe and main pipe (main pipe side):
At the point where the branch pipe branches off from the main pipe, a gate valve is usually installed near the branching point of the main pipe (upstream). This way, the branch pipe can be closed for maintenance or overhaul without affecting the operation of other parts of the supervisor.
4、Location that requires straight through and low flow resistance:
Due to the fact that the gate valve has a straight passage in the fully open state and minimal flow resistance (almost equivalent to the pipeline itself), it is very suitable for installation on critical pipe sections that require minimal pressure loss, such as the outlet of a water pump (downstream of a check valve) or the main pipeline.
5、Inside the underground pipeline valve well:
Underground pipelines such as water supply, drainage, and gas need to be equipped with valve wells at appropriate locations, and gate valves should be installed inside the wells (usually using concealed rod mode to reduce the depth of the well chamber) for easy operation and maintenance on the ground.
